-ism is what we would call a suffix, which is a letter or group of letters added at the end of a word to make a new word. This is a great metaphor to what we are intending to do here at AGAM, to add a set of skills to an individual to grow his/her capabilities to make them a future theatre maker in Singapore. For any theatre product to be successful, it is necessary for the theme/message to be riveting. As such, AGAM has decided to name this iteration’s laboratory series as -ism which is a suffix that is usually used to refer to a set of ideas or system of beliefs or behaviour. This would give the future theatre maker a good grounding on both extensive literature (related to -ism linked set of ideas or system of beliefs), as well as lived experiences that are rich enough to be developed into a performance.
