Trust Fund Assistance Scheme (Bursary)

As part of our social responsibility and giving back to the society, Agam Theatre Lab will actively identify and seek out students who are capable of taking up this bursary via its network of stakeholders who are educators, theatre practitioners and arts managers.

This scheme which will be disbursed as an annual bursary to deserving students who wish to pursue any Theatre or Arts Management courses in polytechnics, specialized arts institutions or Universities locally. This scheme will be introduced in February 2021 in an effort to encourage students to pursue an academic journey in Theatre or Arts Management. It is to support the financial needs of deserving Indian students. 

Agam Theatre Lab pledges to disburse a total of $3000 annually to two to three students. 

 

VALUE & DISBURSEMENT

The quantum will be awarded in two tranches of $1000 (for University Degree programmes) and two tranches of $500 (for Polytechnic Diploma programmes) that will paid out in August and January (for University Degree programmes) and May and October (for Polytechnic Diploma courses), thereby coinciding with the Academic calendar of post-secondary school institutions.

FUTURE OPPORTUNITIES FOR BURSARY RECIPIENTS

Agam Theatre Lab will hand out these bursaries with a commitment to including the recipients into the programmes and projects of AGAM following which, the recipients will be paid a market rate for their services. We hope that this will create a sustainable model for theatre and arts management within the Indian Community, going forward.

ELIGIBILITY

Full-time Singapore Citizens students.

Ethnic Indian students.

The following undergraduates who meet the above criteria are also eligible:

Full fee paying transfer or re-admitted students who are pursuing his/her first undergraduate degree and not already holding qualifications higher than a bachelor degree.

CONDITIONS

Recipient must not concurrently hold the bursary. Recipient must not hold any other scholarships or bursaries or free aid without the prior approval from AGAM. Award is tenable for one year. A fresh application is required each academic year. If the Student fail to complete the course as planned, the bursary will be returned  back to Agam immediately.

9th Dec 2021

Official signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between Agam Theatre Lab and SIET. An initial amount of $5000 was topped up before this date with another $5000 by 31st Dec 2021. An annual top up of $3000 every 1st Dec from 2022 to 2026 will be done.

20th April 2023

A total of $8000 was disbursed to the inaugural batch of 5 recipients of the AGAM-SIET Bursary. The recipients ranged from students in the Postgraduate, Undergraduate and Polytechnic Diploma programmes. Mr Edwin Tong, Minister for Culture, Community and Youth and Second Minister for Law graced the event and presented these bursaries, 2 years after he launched the bursary in 2021.
